This example remains a highly sought after collectors piece, believed to of been less that 1,000 genuine units produced. The 1970 Innocenti Lambretta GP200 Electronic was a landmark, top-of-the-range model, featuring a 198cc engine (12hp, 70mph+), Bertone-designed bodywork, and a pioneering Ducati electronic ignition system. It introduced a distinctive "waffle" seat, special "Electronic" leg shield decals.

The GP 200 Electronic is widely considered the "Holy Grail" of classic scooters, representing the final and most advanced model produced by Innocenti in Italy before the factory's closure. The "Electronic" was a breakthrough model developed in collaboration with Ducati to solve the reliability issues common with mechanical ignition systems. Some of these changes being:

Electronic Ignition: It replaced the traditional points and condenser with a Ducati pick-up box and CDI unit.
Performance: Powered by a 198cc two-stroke engine producing approximately 11.7–12 HP, it could reach a top speed of 70–73 mph.
Design: Styled by the legendary automotive designer Bertone, the GP range (known as the DL outside the UK) featured more streamlined bodywork, a rectangular headlight, and a front disc brake.
Following the closure of the Italian factory in 1971, the tooling was sold to Scooters India Ltd (SIL), which continued producing GP-style scooters for decades, though the original Italian "Electronic" remains the most prized by collectors.
